Summer vacations have been shortened for educational institutions, with reopening scheduled for June 26. Both Fridays and Saturdays will be designated as weekly holidays.

Initially, the summer and Eid holidays were planned to continue until July 2nd, but as informed by the Ministry’s information and public relations officer, M. A. Khayer, the decisions were changed to align with future plans in a meeting on Thursday (June 20).

Summer vacations usually take place in the month of June. This year, due to Eid falling at the same time, the two holidays were combined to adjust with the academic plan calendar.

Although Bangladesh is known as a humid and tropical country, April and May are the hottest months of the year. Last month, due to intense heat, the temperature rose above 42 degrees in some parts of the country.

This year, the Eid and summer vacations started from June 13th. Then there was Eid-ul-Adha on July 17th. After that, it was mentioned that the summer vacation would continue until July 2nd. However, to finish the syllabus for the monthly evaluations of classes six to nine, some educational institutions have announced vacations earlier, reducing holidays until June 29th. The schedule for the commencement of monthly evaluations according to the new curriculum is set to begin on July 3rd.
