Miscreants hacked to death a Union Parishad member in Kushtia’s Daulatpur upazila.
The name of the deceased was Kajal Hossain, 42. He is an elected member of Ward No. 7 of Daulatpur Sadar Union. He is hailed at Daulatkhali village of union.
He is an activist of the local Jubo League.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Daulatpur police station Mujibur Rahman told that miscreants stabbed Kajal on his back and neck with a sharp knife at Sardarpara intersection of the upazila at about 6:pm Wednesday (March 15) and ran away.
Locals rescued and rushed him to Kushtia General Hospital where he died on Thursday around 5 am while undergoing treatment.
OC said that Kajol had a dispute with the people of Sardarpara of the same area over establishment supremacy in the area.
“This might be a cause of attack,” OC said.
He said that no case has been filed in this case yet. Police have started an investigation.
A relative of the victim seeking anonymity said the murder took place due to a dispute between the former lawmaker and present one.
He told that case will be filed in the incident.
