The University Grants Commission (UGC) has recommended roster of higher education institutions, especially public universities, to break the stagnation of ongoing education.
In this case, the commission has opined two types of options. The first is to consider those who are residential students. The second is to bring all residential and non-residential students irrespective of holding NID under vaccination.
The government will decide what it deems convenient. But now UGC, the controlling authority of universities, is in favor of opening educational institutions.
However, first of all, UGC has recommended to bring all the students under corona vaccine. Of these, national identity cards have been collected from 91,000 students in 120 residential halls across the country. All the information of three and a half lakh students studying in government universities has been handed over to the Ministry of Education.
Sources in the Grants Commission said that roster students are brought to the university on different days. In this way, it is possible for students to take class-exams according to their social distance. Similarly, all students can be included in the educational activities.
Many university authorities have agreed with this view. The vice-chancellors of different universities said that it is very challenging to carry out online education activities in the universities of periphery areas. Because, most of our students live in villages. Many have financial problems. In such a situation, in consultation with the UGC, a physical examination can be conducted in accordance with the batch and department based hygiene rules based on the decision of the Academic Council. It will be possible to ensure social distance in every place of the hall or class.
According to the University Grants Commission, three and a half lakh students are studying in various government universities. There are 130,000 students in 120 residential halls.
The UGC says that although there are 130,000 students in the residential halls, there are more than 200,000 students in the halls. Among them, national identity cards of 91,000 students have been found.
The Grants Commission has proposed to bring all of them under the corona vaccine. It is proposed to bring all residents and non-residents under corona vaccination if possible.
