Two school students revived tragic death after being hit by a train in Kushtia.
The accident took place on Sunday (August 4) around 3:30 pm near the Mirpur railway station of Kushtia’s Mirpur upazila.
The deceased are Naeem Hossain, a 10grader of Mirpur Border Guard Public School and College and Ritu Khatun, a 10th class student of Mirpur Secondary Girls' School.
Naeem is son of Aziz of Naopara Mahalla of Ward No. 7 of Mirpur Municipality and Ritu is the daughter of Rabiul Islam of Paharpur village of Chithlia Union of Mirpur Upazila.
Locals said the three students were going to Raju Master's coaching center in Tah Bazar in Mirpur. On the way, while crossing the GK canal rail bridge, the Rupsa Express train from Rajshahi to Khulna hit them, killing them on the spot.
The other, however, jumped into the water of the canal after realizing the arrival of the train and survived.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Poradah Railway Police Station Manjer Ali confirmed the incident.
He said that a team was sent to the spot and the bodies of the deceased sent to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
