Two children drowned in a pond in Barodag village in Bheramara upazila of Kushtia. Their bodies were recovered around 12:30 pm on Thursday.

Shah Jalal, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bheramara Police Station confirmed the incident.

The deceased children are Mustafizur Rahman (10) and Siam (12). Mustafiz was son of masum Hossain of the village while Siam was the son of Bakul of Sholdag area. They are cousin. Both were school student.

According to the family sources of the two children, Siam went to Mustafiz's house for two days. Unbeknownst to the family, they went to take bath in the pond near the house. There they drowned at one stage. Seeing their bodies floating in the water, the locals rescued them and took them to Bheramara Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty there declared them dead.
