Two murder cases were filed in Kushtia for instigating the killing of the agitators during the Quota discrimination movement.
A total of 119 people were accused in two cases. In one of these cases, Bangladesh Awami League Central Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif has been shown as the number one defendant.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kushtia Model Police Station Mahfuzur Rahman Choudhury said that two cases were registered at separate times on Friday night.
The plaintiff in the first case Lukman Hossain is a resident of Char Thanapara area of Kushtia Town. He is a tea shopkeeper. Luqman's son Abdullah (13) was killed in a clash during the student movement in afternoon on August 5. Abdullah worked at his father tea stall.
In the case, a total of 14 people including leaders and activists of Awami League and its front organizations have been named in the case. Another 10 to 20 people have been charged as unnamed.
Among others accused in the case are District Sechwasebok League President Yachir Arafat, District Awami League Information and Research Secretary Rashedul Islam, Awami League leader and Kushtia Municipal Commissioner Dhiman.
Mahbubul Alam Hanif is accused number 1 in this case.
Besides, Raisul Haque, an activist of Quota discrimination movement, Kushti also a third year degree student at Kushtia Government College filed another case in the murdering of jewellery shop employee Babu on August 5.
Babu, son of Nowsher Ali was hailed of Shaldah area of Hatosh Haripur village of Kushtia Sadar Upazila.
In the case, names of 35 people including Kushtia District Awami League President also Xhairman of Kushtia Zilla Parishad Sadar Uddin Khan, General Secretary Asgor Ali, Senior Vice President were mentioned.
Apart from this, the accused in this case are - General Secretary of Kushtia Sheswasebok Leage General secretary drug dealer Manab Chaki, Kushtia District Chhatra League President Atiqur Rahman Anik and Kushtia Government College Chhatra League President Ferdous.
OC said, no one has been arrested so far.
