Two madrasa teachers accused in the case of vandalism of Bangandhu’s sculpture in Kushtia have given statements under section 164 in court on Saturday (November 12). After the deposition, they were sent to jail in the evening.
The two teachers are Md. Al Amin (27) and Yusuf Ali (26). Both are teachers of Ibn Masood (ra) madrasa in Jagati Paschimpara area of Kushtia town.
They were taken into police custody for four days. Investigating officer of the case and Kushtia Model Police Station Inspector Nishi Kant Sarkar took them to court.

Kushtia Superintendent of Police SM Tanvir Arafat said two students of the madrasa, one of the main accused in the case, would be taken to court on Sunday. These are the students of the Hefz department of the same madrasa. They are Abu Bakkar alias Mithun (19) and Sabuj Islam alias Nahid (20).
An official involved in the case said the two madrassa teachers had admitted in court that they had told the two students to flee the madrassa. The two students told them (teachers) while eating breakfast the day after the incident last Saturday (December 5) that they had vandalized the sculpture of Bangabandhu at night. After hearing that, the two teachers told them to flee from the madrasa.
The under-construction sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was vandalized at the intersection of Panch rasta in Kushtia on 5 December. The next day, on Saturday night, Kushtia Municipality Secretary Kamal Uddin filed a case under the Special Powers Act with the Kushtia Model Police Station.
