Two child marriage sopped in Kushtia

Two child marriage stopped in Kushtia’s Kumarkhali upazila. A mobile court led by Kumarkhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rajibul Islam Khan in separate drives save the two 13-year children from the curse of child marriage.

The bride’s mother and father have been fined for arranging the child marriage.

The incident was of Dayarampur and Hasimpur villages of Jagannathpur union of the upazila on Friday afternoon.

According to mobile court, upon receiving the news, UNO along with police and Social Welfare officials conducted the operation at Dayarampur village.

The bride’s mother was fined Tk 10,000 and the teenaged handed over to the local Union Parishad chairman to the effect that the girl would not be married until she was 18 years old.

In another drive at Hasimpur village, the girl’s parents were fined Tk 30,00 and handed the girl over to UP chairman on same condition.

The cooked meal seized from the both brides house and was distributed to the orphans to eat.

In both cases, the girl’s parents were not jailed considering their illness.
