Two Burnt stolen weapons of Kushtia Model Police recovered from a pond

Parts of two burnt firearms were recovered from a pond in Kushtia’s Kumarkhali Upazila today (August 17).
Police believed that the firearms the recovered guns belong to Kushtia Model Police Station looted after arson attack there on August 5.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kumarkhali Police Station, Akibul Islam, said that Jalal Uddin (48), a farmer from Mahishakhola village of the upazila was washing rotten jute in that pond at about 10.30:am.
While standing waist-deep in the water, he felt something hard under his feet. When he picked it up, he saw it was a gun. The local people were also there.
Later, the farmer found another gun within four feet length in the same water.
When informed, police from Kumarkhali Police Station rushed to the spot and recovered the two weapons.
OC Akibul said that after completing legal procedures, the weapons will be handed over to Kushtia Model Police Station.
Earlier, on August 14, members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Kushtia Company conducted a raid in the Hatosh Haripur area of Kushtia Sadar Upazila and recovered a short gun and a single-barrel shotgun in an abandoned state.
The recovered weapons were later handed over to Kushtia Model Police Station.
