The memorial meeting of Kushtia’s late young organizer, journalist and cultural activist Rakibul Hasan Rico was held on Sunday (October 11).

Sammilito Samajik Jote, Kushtia organized the event held at Kushtia Public School premises at Kataikhana More in the town.

Sammilita Samajik Jote Chairman, The Daily Dainik Kushtia and the Weekly Kushtia Times Editor, Writer Researcher Dr. Amanur Aman in the chair, the meeting was addressed among others by Professor Dr. Mahbubul Arfin, Chairman at the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management also General Secretary of Kushtia Islamic University Bangabandhu Parishad as chief guest. Senior organizer Kushtia Bird Club president SI Sohail, senior organizer, founder and president of Manush Manusher Jonno poet and lyricist Shahabuddin Milon, poet and organiser also older brother of late Ricko Shaibal Adityia, Leo Korban Ali made their speech.

The commemoration meeting was conducted by senior organizer of Sammilito Samajik Jote also central Co-chairman of National Debate Federation of Bangladesh Shamim Rana.

In their emotional reminiscences, the speakers highlighted various aspects of the life and work of the late young organizer, journalist and cultural activist Rakibul Hasan (Rico).

They said Rico’s death was not just the death of a social worker, but that Kushtia, or Bangladesh, had lost a great deal of potential soul. The speakers wished eternal peace to the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to his bereaved family.

Mufti AKM Shariful Islam Helali conducted the prayer mahfil at the end of the commemoration meeting.
