Tree plantation inaugurates in Khoksa

Inauguration ceremony of tree planting on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman held at Khoksa upazila in Kushtia on Thursday (March 18).
The programme was of a part of the national programme to plant 10 million saplings across the country by the Forest Department.
Kushtia District Awami League President also Khoksa Upazila Parishad Chairman Freedom Fighter Sadar Uddin Khan inaugurated the event.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mezbah Uddin presided over the function while Upazila Vice Chairman Selim Reza and Upazila Forest Officer Peer Mohammad were present among others.
According to the Upazila Forest Department, a total of 20,325 saplings will be planted in 9 unions and one municipality of the upazila on the occasion of Bangabandhu’s birth centenary. Of these, 50 percent fruit trees, 30 percent forest and 20 percent medicinal trees will be planted.
