After being closed for about 10 hours, rail communication with Khulna has returned to normal. On Tuesday at 11:40 the train movement became normal.
On Monday (October 26) at around 2.30 pm, a train carrying stones from Darshana and a train carrying diesel from Noapara in Jessore disobeyed two signals at Safdalpur station in Kotchandpur upazila of Jhenaidah and entered the same line. Five oil tankers with engines derailed when two trains collided head-on. As a result, the train service with Khulna was stopped all over the country.
Safdalpur Station Master Golam Mostafa said there were no casualties in the incident.
A three-member investigation committee has been formed headed by Pakshi's assistant traffic officer Abdus Sobhan.
