The Covid-19 patients are on rise in Kushtia.

The health experts have identified two main causes behind this increasing including the district’s location at bordering of India and the second is peoples massive ignoring the health rules.

In one week (20-26) 120 new corona patients have been identified here. In the previous week (May 13-19), 50 corona patients were found. The number of infected people has increased to 70 in one week.

Meanwhile, 147 people have returned to Kushtia from India under special arrangements through Darshana border since last Saturday. Three corona patients were found among the returnees to India. One of them is in critical condition and has been sent to Dhaka.

Kushtia Civil Surgeon. HM Anwarul Islam said the intake rate was between 10 and 12 percent compared to the sample 10 days ago. The rate has increased. Now 13 to 16 percent are being affected.

The Civil Surgeon said that all the administrations of Kushtia have been alerted so that no one can enter the district illegally through the border. He said the situation is under control. So far in Kushtia, 4, 866 people have been infected with corona and 110 have died.

The Civil Surgeon said the rate of infection has recently increased as people did not follow the hygiene rules during Eid. However, he said the situation was under control before Eid.

“Even then there is not much awareness among the people. Many do not follow the hygiene rules.” he said.

On Thursday, a team of The Kushtia Times visited Kushtia Municipality area and Kushtia General Hospital and found there was a tendency of not following the hygiene rules. Most do not have a face mask. Everyone is moving without maintaining any distance.

Kushtia Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Saidul Islam urged the people to follow the health guidelines asserted by the government.

“We have lost many lives. They why we are not making ourselves consciousness, it is a big question,” he said.
