A group of eight gang raped a mother of two children tempting her to a job in Chuadanga’s Alamdanga upazila.
Police so far arrested the key culprit of the incident.
The incident took place at Asmankhali Bazar in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga on Tuesday afternoon.
Citing the case statement, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Alamdanga Police Station Alamgir Kabir said the woman lived in her father's house with her two children after trouble in conjugal life. She asked one Mizanur Rahman Kalu, known to her for a job
Kalu, of Asmankhali village asked the woman to come to Asmankhali bazar on Tuesday afternoon.
When she went to Asmankhali bazar, she was taken to a room in a two-storey building owned by one Rashid. Going there, the woman saw 7 more people. She was forcibly raped there by 8 people including Kalu. After the rape, the rapists left her in the room at around 4 pm. The woman went to her home.
The OC said police came to know the matter on Wednesday. The woman agreed to file a case after police promised to help her.
She filed a case against eight people at Alamdanga police station around 7pm on Wednesday. The accused in the case are Mulam Hossain, 50, son of Abu Chaddin of Shalika village in Alamdanga upazila, Ripon Ali alias Lipon, 35, son of late Santu of Bandarvita village in the same upazila, Hasan Ali, 40, son of Barek Ali of Shalika village and Nazirul Islam, 25, son of Jasim Uddin. Habu Hossain, 42, son of late Tapel Biswas of Maheshpur village, Hamidul Islam, 34, son of Abdul Mannan of Nandbar village, Mizanur Rahman Kalu, 40, son of Manser Ali of Asmankhali village and another unidentified person.
Police raided the house at night and arrested the main accused.
OC Alamgir Kabir medical test of the woman was completed at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital on Thursday.
Beside, the key accused Kalu was produced before the Chuadanga Chief Judicial Court where the court sent him to jail.
The OC said the operation to arrest the rest accused in the case was continuing.
