All kinds of Tazia, mourning and pike processions have been banned in Dhaka metropolitan area on the occasion of celebration of Holy Ashura on 10th Muharram (Sunday, August 30).
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Shafiqul Islam on Wednesday has informed the matter in a press release.
According to the notification, the decision was taken in order to ensure the safety of the citizens of Dhaka metropolitan area in the current situation of coronavirus infection.
However, devout city dwellers will be able to perform religious ceremonies at Imambara in compliance with the health rules. Carrying knives, daggers, scissors, spears, swords, sticks and setting off fireworks and crackers will be strictly prohibited at the venue.
This order will remain in force from the beginning to the end of the ceremony on the occasion of Holy Ashura.
