Students in Kushtia Islamic University (IU) are on agitation in demanding the resume of Halls and examinations here have rejected the decision of education ministry.
For this, they have fixed the time till March 1.
GK Sadiq, general secretary of IU unit Chhatra Union made the demand at a press conference on campus today (Tuesday).
Abdur Rauf, President of IU unit Chhatra Moitree and Abu Raihan, a student of Arabic Language and Literature Department spoke on the press conference.
They announced that if the halls are not opened by March 1, they will go up.
At the press conference, Sadiq said that the government and the university administrations do not want to normalize the educational activities by opening halls and campuses on the pretext of corona infection.
Corona infections have also decreased and vaccines have already arrived.
“In that context, we would like to say that we have to move away from the unreasonable decision to open the campus on May 17 and May 24 and start the educational activities by opening the hall and campus,” the written statement said.
“We are rejecting the decision of the education ministry, demanding that it be reconsidered,” he said.
He said the decision has been taken without considering the situation of general students.
A team of the students also met with the University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Sheikh Abdus Salam.
The vice-chancellor later told The Daily Star that everything would be done in the base of circumstances, based on government decisions.
He admits that the real demand of the students should be class-examination. But they also need to consider the current situation.
