The division of radical Islamist party Hefazat-e-Islam in Bangladesh has become clear again. One group formed a convening committee late at night. On the other hand, another group has announced to form a counter-committee.
In one group, Junaid Babungari was made Amir, Nurul Islam was made secretary general and Salahuddin Nanupuri and Deonar Pir Mizanur Rahman were made members. Besides, Muhibullah Babungari was made the chief adviser of the convening committee.
The committee was announced on Facebook Live on Monday (April 26) at around 4:30 am by Nurul Islam, secretary general of the former and newly formed committee of Hifazat.
Earlier, at around 2.30 am, Hefazat-e-Islam announced on its Facebook page that a three-member convening committee would be formed.
Meanwhile, after the dissolution of the central committee of Hefazat, the leaders of a group announced to form a new committee on the same night. This was stated by Mainuddin Ruhi, Joint Secretary General of the committee headed by Shah Ahmad Shafi.
In a video message, he said, “We will soon form committee holding of Ahmad Shafi's principles and ideals.” Followers will remain united with us.
Maulana Mainuddin Ruhi further said, “A syndicate committee was formed on November 15, 2020 in the name of the council. I have repeatedly said that this is an illegal committee.
