The son Munna Babu killed his mother to grab all properties for property depriving his 3 sisters. Then he staged a kidnapping drama by leaving body in a puddle. Munna took help his uncle Abdul Quader and friend Rabbi Alamin to commit this misdeed.

Kushtia Superintendent of Police SM Tanvir Arafat said this at a press briefing at his office on Wednesday.

The body was recovered by the district detective police (DB) after 34 days. Police have arrested Munna Babu and two others alleged criminals.

The incident was of South Katdaha area of ​​Poradaha union of Mirpur upazila in Kushtia.

The deceased was identified as Mamtaz Begum.

The police super said Mamtaz was living with her only son Munna Babu after her husband died. Her 3 daughters are married.

On January 20, son Munna along with his friend Rabbi and uncle Abdul Quader killed Mamtaz and dumped his body in a sack in a pond. Later on January 21, son Munna Babu lodged a complaint with Mirpur Police Station alleging that his mother had been abducted. Not only that, then Munna called his friend Rabbi the abductor and called his brother-in-law and demanded a ransom of Tk 5 lakh.

The matter was investigated by Kushtia Detective Branch (DB).

DB OC Aminul Islam said, during investigation, police found out that no one in the family except Munna knew the number of his brother-in-law’s phone number. And the call came from Rabbi Alamin’s number.

Later, police arrested rabbi. During interrogation Rabbi admitted everything.

Over his confession, police recovered the body of the deceased from the pond next to the house last evening. Police initially believe that the boy committed the murder out of greed for his mother’s property.

According to police, recently Mamtaz sold out a family property and distributed the money equal to her all kids—only son Munna and 3 sisters. This was angered Munna who wanted all the sum. He talked to his uncle Quader who advised him that gradually all properties will go to the hands of the people are not their family members.

Then they planned to kill Mamtaz.

According to police, Quader hanged herself with a rope at noon on the day of the murder. And Munna and Rabbi held mother’s hands and feet. Later, they left the body under the bed and left the house. Then he came at night, filled the sack, dug the soil in the next pond and buried it.

Police produced them before the court and the court sent them to jail.
