An old man who was injured in an attack in Kushtia’s Daulatpur upazila, died on Thursday (July 9) night while undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College.
The deceased was identified as Sarwar Malitha (60) of the upazila.
According to the police, Badsha, Bhugol and Asadul, sons of rival Chatur Ali, had a quarrel with the family members of Sarwar Malitha on Wednesday over games between the boys of two families. At night, Sarwar and his son Haque was called by the rivals. Badsha, Bhugol, Asadul and Sadhan with 10-12 hit Sarwar Malitha on the head with a sharp weapon when they reached to response of the call.
They also beat up Abdul Haque Malitha when he tried to stop the attackers.
Injured Sarwar Malitha was rescued and admitted to Kushtia General Hospital. When his condition deteriorated, he was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital on Thursday afternoon where he died. A complaint has been lodged at Daulatpur police station.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Daulatpur Police Station Arifur Rahman said he has heard the news of the death of the injured person.
A case has been filed and police will take action, OC said.
