The decision probably will be taken at an inter-ministerial meeting on September 5 (Sunday) when the educational Institution will be reopened.
Sources said the meeting will be held under the residing of the Education Minister.
However, sources say that if the coronavirus (Covid-19) infection down below 10 percent, the educational institution will be reopened. The government’s policymakers believe the situation in Corona will improve in the next two weeks.
At the same time, decision will also be taken on a number of issues including finalization of plans, formulation of hygiene assurance and follow-up procedures, expeditious completion of SSC-HSC equivalent examinations to overcome the long-term losses after opening and reopening of educational institutions.
The meeting will be attended by members of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Ministry of Health and National Level Technical Committee.
The National Advisory Committee has given its opinion to open the educational institution if the corona infection rate comes down below 10 percent. At present this rate has come down to 12 percent. In a few days it will go down to 10 percent.
However, the Ministry of Education is thinking of opening schools and colleges if the infection drops to 6-7 percent. In that case, as per the previous announcement, the current year’s SSC and HSC candidates will take classes six days a week as per the previous announcement. And in the first step, the students of other levels will take classes one day at a time. Students in a class will be seated in three rooms. If the situation is under control, they will take classes two days a week. In such a situation, the holiday will be extended from September 11 to September 30. The school-college will be opened from October 1.
Meanwhile, at an inter-ministerial meeting on August 28, the education minister said the university could be reopened step by step from October 16 in compliance with the health rules. Before that, the information of how many teachers and students have been vaccinated in a university should be sent to the University Grants Commission (UGC) in the form of a table. Information on how many of them have taken the second dose of vaccine, how many have taken the first dose, how many students of the residential hall have been vaccinated should be sent to UGC. Later this week, UGC sent a letter to all the universities asking for information in the next seven days.
Education Minister Dipu Moni said that there is no opportunity to keep the educational institution closed for a long time. There is pressure from school-college and student-parents, even if it is opened, there is a risk of corona infection. If the overall infection rate downs below 10 percent, we want to open educational institutions.
