Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) is going to launch short message or SMS in Bengali on the occasion of International Mother Language Day at half cost. It will cost 25 paise (excluding VAT and tariff) if sent in Bangla script. At present it costs 50 paisa (excluding VAT and tariff) per SMS.
Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar will inaugurate the program on February 20, the commission said.
From August 15, 2010, the cost per SMS was fixed at 50 paisa (excluding VAT and tariff).
