A schoolboy was killed when a truck hit him at Kaburhat in Kushtia on Thursday afternoon.

The boy was identified as Hamza Hossain, 13, son of Sohail Hossain of Kaburhat Kadamtala area in sadar upazila of Kushtia. He eighth grade student of Kaburhat Secondary School.

Arpan Mahmud, a cousin of the deceased, said Hamza was returning home riding a bicycle. Hamza was injured when he collided with a speeding truck on the Kushtia-Poradaha road near Kaburhat Secondary School.

He was rushed to Kushtia General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 5.30 pm.

Kushtia Model Police Station OC Shawkat Kabir said the body was kept in the morgue of the hospital. Locals were able to identify the truck at Khan Rice Mill. The truck driver have not yet been arrested.

A case was filed.
