Saima Wazed Hossain Putul, daughter of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has been nominated as the thematic envoy of Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF). A statement from the foreign ministry on Wednesday (July 22nd) told it.
Saima is currently the Chairperson of the National Committee on Autism in Bangladesh. She is well known as an autism specialist. She is working worldwide with autistic children.
In addition to Saima, four more ambassadors have been nominated. They are former Maldivian President Nasheed Kamal, Philippine Deputy Speaker Lauren Legreda and Congo’s climate expert Tosi Mapnu.
On behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has invited the four envoys to play a role in the CVF.
They will work with marginalized people, the National Assembly and renewable energy. On behalf of the CVF, four ambassadors will campaign to raise public awareness on climate risk mitigation.
The CVF is an alliance of countries that are most at risk in the face of global climate change. Total 48 countries of the world are members of CVF. Bangladesh has been serving as the chair of CVF since this year.
