When the passenger trains are closed under Western Railway, in last one month, the revenue of the railway has been 15 crore 52 lakh 8 thousand 215 taka carrying goods.

Sources said at this time a maximum of 162 freight racks (freight train coaches) have arrived in Bangladesh from India. 159 empty racks have been returned from Bangladesh.

Pakshy Divisional Officer (DTO) of Western Railway Anwar Hossain infformed this on Friday.
According to the office of the Railway Pakshy Divisional Transport Officer, all passenger trains were closed due to the second phase of the corona virus outbreak. For this reason, maximum time is given to freight trains. Moreover, due to the closure of passenger trains, freight trains did not face any delay or train crossing (leaving one train station and passing another train). Engine, crew (driver) and train directors (guards) were also available as per demand.

For this reason, it has been possible to get 162 freight trains from India in April this year alone. Of which 40 freight of wheat, 21 were rice, 8 were maize and  27 were of stone. Besides, India has handed over 60 onions, khail fries and boxed stones.

Nasir Uddin, Pakshy Divisional Railway Commercial Officer (DCO) of Western Railway, said revenue collection from Pakshy Divisional Railway has increased due to the arrival of goods from India. It is becoming possible to meet the food demand for employment of construction of roads in the country, import of development work products etc. This activity will continue. In addition to increasing revenue in both countries, it is playing a special role.

Divisional Railway Transport Officer (DTO) Anwar Hossain told that after independence, it was possible to bring an average of 60-70 freight trains a month from India to Bangladesh. Because of the movement of passenger trains, it used to take some time for the freight trains to run. Despite the demand, the engine, crew (driver) and freight train director (guard) were not available in time. But during the Corona epidemic, the government decided to stop all passenger trains, which increased the speed of freight trains.

He further told that under the overall supervision of the Chief Operating Superintendent of Western Railway Rajshahi, in April this year, the Pakshi Division brought a record 162 freight wrecks from India to Bangladesh.

It is known that goods were brought to Bangladesh from India. Due to the intervention of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Railways, railway officials and maintaining constant contact with India to prevent food shortages, it has become possible to bring so many freight trains from India by rail at this time. 162 freight racks of trains from India have been received and 159 empty racks from Bangladesh have been sent to India. Which is the highest record after 50 years of independence.

Since the introduction of Indian rail communication with Bangladesh, the highest freight racks has never entered Bangladesh from India.
