Random killing wildlife sparked protest in Chuadanga

Police has taken no action against the unscrupulous people went on random killing wildlife in Chuadanga district where 20 such incident took place within three days.
Such killings are still being widely criticized through social media and demands for punishment of the misdeeds are also raised from walks of life.
According to sources, a mother wild cat and her four cubs were hacked to death in Dinanathpur village of Sadar upazila on Wednesday. Earlier on Monday and Tuesday, 15 dogs and a domestic
cat were killed by poisoning.
In-charge (OC) of Chuadanga Forest Department Zakir Hossain confirmed the matter.
According to the forest official, a mother cat took shelter in the chalk house of Saudi expatriate
Billal Hossain of Madrasapara in Dinanathpur village. The wild cat gave birth to 4 cubs
there. The people of the house saw the wild cats on Wednesday afternoon. Billal Hossain's wife
Nuri Begum informed the neighbours about the matter. Later, neighbour Abul Kashem, his son
Rokon Ali and Abu Hossain's son Rabiul Islam hacked to death mother wildcat and her 4
cubs. After the murder, the bodies were laid on the ground.
The forest department inspected the site on Thursday noon and found the indent true.
Step will be taken as per the law, the forest official said in the afternoon.
Beside, pesticide trader Abbas Ali killed 15 dogs and a cat by mixing poison in bread at
Sonatanpur village in Alamdanga upazila of the district.
Alamdanga upazila Livestock officer Abdullahil Kafi filed a general diary with Alamdanga
police station on Wednesday night.
Kafi said a few days ago, a dog put its mouth in a water container at Abbas Ali’s house. Abbas
was angry at this. On Monday, he mixed poison in the bread and fed it to about 14 dogs in the
area. One by one, 14 dogs and a cat died. The last one died on Tuesday night.
Admitting the matter, Abbas Ali told reporters that the dogs were very annoying so he killed those with poison.
Abdullah Kafi said he lodged a general diary after inspecting the scene and finding the incident
true.
Bakhtiar Hamid Bipul, president of the environmental organization Care for the Unclaimed
Beast, said the incidents were extremely brutal. The accused should be brought under book and
given exemplary punishment.
Alamdanga Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Islam said the complaint was received. Strict
action will be taken.
But police could not arrest any of the culprits involved into the incidents.
