Two days event initiated on the occasion of 163th birth anniversary of great poet Rabindranath Tagore has ended at Sheliadah Kuthibari in Kushtia on Thursday night.
Ministry of Cultural Affairs and Kushtia district administration jointly organised the programme kicked on Wednesday.
Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif, joint general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League also lawmaker of Kushtia-3 inaugurated the event.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kushtia presided over the programme. Among others, lawmaker of Kushtia-4 Abdur Rouf, Khulna Divisional Commissioner Sharif Helal Mahmud, Kushtia police super AHM Abdur Raqib presents as special guests there.
Professor Dr. Sarwar Murshed of Bangla Department at Kushtia Islamic University and eminent writer and researcher Dr. Amanur Aman was chief discussants in the two days event.
On the occasion, discussion, songs, drama, dances and recitations was arranged in the two days event. A village fair was also organised on the occasion. Total 59 cultural organisations from different parts of the country and India took in the events.
Speakers told that Rabindranath is the most influential writer of Bengali literature from the last half of the 19th century to the 20th century. He is equally powerful at this end of the 21st century. They said his appeal to literary readers will not diminish for centuries to come. Because most of his writings are age-old.
