Dr. Md. Iqbal Hossain, Professor of the department of Da`wah & Islamic Studies at the Islamic University, has achieved a Fellowship from New York-based organization Interfaith Center USA. Under the Fellowship, he will work to establish interfaith relations among religious leaders of different faiths in Bangladesh and will present his findings at the Center’s International Conference that will be held on November 2021.
This is an internationally recognized prestigious fellowship in the field of interfaith affair.
Dr. Iqbal Hossain is internationally known as an interreligious scholar. He received his higher degree in Theology from the University of London in 2009 titled “Faith and Contemporary Society”. He then completed his post graduate degree in human rights law from Law Faculty of the University of East London. He has worked as an instructor at the International Institute of peace and development Studies in Bangkok in 2013.
In April 2017, he got invitation from the State Department of the United States Federal Government in IVLP programme. (International Visitors Leadership Programme). During the visit, he met and discussed with government officials at the State Department and exchanged views with teachers, religious and community leaders from different states and universities. In the same year, he joined 7th International Interfaith Conference organized by the City Montessori School, Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, India, as an invited guest and received the Interfaith Award. He conducted research on Interfaith Networking in New York City, USA from June 2018 to May 2019.
A research book named Interfaith in Islam and Muslim World was published from Interfaith Center USA, New York 2008. In the same year he attained at proclamation in the same organisation. It is noted that the scholars, philanthropists, researchers, development workers who work for social peace and stability and for good relationship between different religions and paths are given this proclamation. He is working mainly on interfaith dialogue, women’s rights and Islam in the Muslim world.
A total 9 (nine) books and 29 research articles have been published different reputed research journals in und the country. In addition to teaching, Professor Iqbal worked as Assistant Proctor, Rovers Scout Secretary, Provost, and President of the Provost Council at Islamic University. He also served as the secretary of the Islamic University Teachers’ Association (IUTA).
Dr. Iqbal Hossain is married and father of two children.
