The Benapole Immigration and Customs is gradually returning to normal after eight months of closure. The passport holders are crossing through the international check post. Total 1,429 people have crossed in the last three days.
On Saturday, 265 people went to India and 162 people came from there. On Friday, 356 people went and 181 people came. On Thursday, 26 people went, and 162 people came. Immigration OC Ahsan Habib thinks that there is no possibility of increasing passenger traffic until the travel visa is introduced.
The Indian government has eased the ban on Bangladeshis from traveling to India since March 13. At present, Bangladeshis can go to India with new medical visa, student visa and old business visa with Covid-19 negative certificate. However, crossings on diplomatic visas have never stopped.
Health workers are checking the health of foreign nationals coming from India with thermal scanners.
