The part of roof of the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) was collapsed on the beds of patients in 250-bed Kushtia General Hospital. The incident took place on Saturday.
In the incident, roof castings, ceiling boards and plaster fallen on patients' beds.
No causality was recorded but a relative of a patient received injury in hand.
Total 18 patients were undergoing treatment in that ward when the incident took place, the matter confirms Abdul Momen, Deputy Director of the hospital.
Shafiqul Islam, a patient of the ward, said he was admitted to the hospital on Friday. It suddenly collapsed at around 1:10 pm.
He added that he was very scared after this incident
The patient's relative Banu Khatun said the roof collapsed with big and the plaster and ceiling boards fallen on the beds and floor.
The parts of the fallen things also hit on the bodies of patients and relatives were there.
Nasimul Bari Bappi, in-charge of the CCU ward said the roof had collapsed as it was old construction. Patients in the CCU ward are immediately transferred to another ward.
Abdul Momen said the matter has been informed to the executive engineer of public works. The office will be renovated in a day or two.
It may be mentioned that the parts of the roof of nurses' room in the CCU got collapsed on the evening of March 10 this year.
Several doctors and nurses on duty were injured in the accident.
