Outlawed Gono Mukti Fouz leader held with firearms

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab)-12 arrested a regional leader of outlawed Gono Mukti Fouz (GMF) and recovered firearms and ammunitions from his possession on Sunday night.

The outlaw was identified as Rashidul Islam, 45, son of late Torab Ali of Bhabanipur area of ​​Kushtia’s Sadar upazila.

RAB said Rashidul he is an associate of Aminul Islam Mukul, the chief of the GMF.

Major Gaffaruzzaman, company commander of RAB-12 CPC-1, said after a secret information a team raided at a hideout of the village and arrested Rashidul. One rifle, one pistol, 16 rounds of ammunition and domestic weapons were recoveree from him.

Rashidul was accused of carrying out various misdeeds including murder, extortion, kidnapping and looting in the area in the last 20 years.

He is accused in five murder cases and 18 general diaries with Kushtia Model police station and Islamic University police station against him, the RAB official said.

He was handed over to Kushtia Model Police Station on Sunday night.

A Kushtia court sent him to jail.
