Opened up another door of dream/Bangladesh entered into Metrorail era

After open up Padma Setu, where all the doubts of the people of Bangladesh got ended, now it is time another dream got fulfilled. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the much desired dream metro rail in the capital. Through this, Bangladesh entered the Metrorail era.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the metro rail by unveiling the name plaque at the C-1 Block playground of Uttara Sector 15 n Wednesday (December 28). Sheikh Rehana, daughter of the Father of the Nation and younger sister of the Prime Minister, was present there.
Speaker of the Parliament Shireen Sharmin Chowdhury, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Roads and Highways Department Secretary ABM Aminullah Noori, DMTCL Managing Director (MD) MAN Siddique, Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam and other senior government officials were also present.

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) which is responsible for the construction and management of metro rail in Dhaka said, initially, the metro rail will run from Uttara to Agargaon.
It will take 10 minutes and 10 seconds to cover this distance of 12 kilometers. The trains will not stop midway while running from Uttara to Agargaon. Although there are 9 stations on this route of 11.73 km, other than Uttara and Agargaon passengers will not get this facility.
Meanwhile, the metro rail ticket also has a touch of modernity. There will be no paper tickets for metro rail travel. You have to buy the card from the metro rail station. Initially two types of cards will be available at the station. Permanent and Single Journey cards. Initially, cards can be collected from Uttara and Agargaon stations. The fare for this route is 60 taka.

However, one has to buy a 10-year permanent card for 200 taka. This card can be recharged as needed for travel. Registration is required to get permanent card. Registration link will be given on DMTCL website on Thursday (December 29). Registration can be done from this day. To register one will need his name, parent’s name, National Identity Card (NID) or passport number, mobile number, e-mail ID.

Cards can be purchased from ticket office machines (TOMs) at stations with the help of sales staff. Besides, the passengers can collect the card automatically from the vending machine. On the occasion of the inauguration of the metro rail, people flocked to Diabari in Uttara since morning. Awami League activists and supporters appeared in Uttara Sector 15 with banners and festoons around the opening ceremony and peaceful rally.
