There is no programme will be held on the occasion of 130th death anniversary of Baul king Fakir Lalon Shah this time due to ongoing Coronavirus in the country.
Lalon Academy, official controlling authority of the shrine of the baul king at Cheuria announced it. The Academy President also Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kushtia Aslam Hossain told it at a press briefing on Sunday evening.
Superintendent of Police in Kushtia SM Tanvir Arafath and members of Lalon Academy was attended the briefing held at the academy at Cheuria.
Earlier, the decision was taken at a meeting of the ad-hoc committee of Lalon Academy. After contacting the Ministry of Culture of the government, it was advised not to hold the event from there either.
The deputy commissioner told this is an official decision. There is nothing to do because the situation is not under anyone’s control. He said many Baul and Baul devotees would come from far and wide. Experts have already suggested that mixing them up could lead to dire situations over the Corona pandemic.
