Bangabandhu Parishad has only committee at Kushtia Islamic University (IU) that is approved by its central general secretary Dr. SA Malek. There is no committee outside of this. Those who have recently floated Bangabandhu Parishad Teachers Unit (BPTU) at the campus are of vicious, infiltrating and opportunistic clique. Leaders of the centrally approved committee of Bangabandhu Parishad at IU demanded it.
Some leaders of the Central Bangabandhu Parishad have also admitted this fact as true.
The IU Bangabandhu Parishad made this call at a press conference recently in the campus. General Secretary of the organization Professor Dr. Mahbubul Arfin read out the written statement in this regard.
According to campus sources, IU committee of Bangabandhu Parishad was lastly approved on December 31, 2019 where the incumbent IU Pro-Vice Chancellor also professor of ICT Dr. Mahbubur Rahman and Professor of Management Dr Mahbubul Arfin made General Secretary. Soon after this approval, an organization namely BPTU was launched here. The Center Bangabandhu Parishad warned this committee that such committee has no legality. But defying the warning this keep the activities going.
Recently, on 28 February, the BPTU published a draft voter list in an intention to hold election on March 14. That list also included names of teacher’s leaders of the centrally approved Bangabandhu Parishad. As a result, the leaders objected to the issue and held a press conference.
The press conference was presented among others by acting president of centrally approved Bangabandhu Parishad Professor Dr. Jahangir Hossain, professor Dr. Anwar Hossain, Professor Dr. Mamunur Rahman, Professor Dr. Debashish Sharma, Professor Dr. Shahjahan Mandal.
In the written statement, Professor Arfin said when the country is going to achieve the millennium development goal uunder the able leadership of Sheikh Hasina, then few intruder and opportunistic clique engaging in vicious circle is trying to undermine and questioning this achievement as well as trying to destroy the ongoing smooth academic environment at the university. The clique is also trying to confuse and derail the teachers-officers-staff and students of the university under a pseudonym.
He said, “I urge all concerned teachers, officers and employees not to fall into the evil trap of this clique at the same time, I am requesting the intruders and opportunists to refrain from evil activities. He said such activities are hampering the aims and objectives of the present government also dragging the university in a conflicting situation. This is also totally against the Bangabandhu's ideology.
Meanwhile, while talking to some leaders of the Central Bangabandhu Parishad, they told The Kushtia Times that there is only one committee approved by the Center in IU. They have requested everyone not to spread confusion about this.
