Newly 48 more person have been identified as Corona (Covid-19) in Kushtia. With this, the number of corona patients in the district dropped to thousands. The number stood at 1014.
Kushtia is now the second corona affected district out of 10 districts in Khulna division. Khulna is in the top of the list.
The death toll in formally and informally in the district is 19.
Tapos Kumar sarker, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Kushtia general hospital told that a total 128 samples were tested at Kushtia Medical College PCR Lab on July 13.
Of those, 48 were found as positive. Among them, 34 from Kushtia Sadar upazila, 6 from Daulatpur upazila, 6 from Kumarkhali upazila and 2 from Bheramara upazila have been identified.
Besides, 35 samples from Chuadanga, 92 from Jhenaidah, 4 from Meherpur and 88 from Narail were tested at the lab. Of these, 5 new corona patients have been identified in Chuadanga district, 36 in Jhenaidah district, 32 in Narail district and 4 in Meherpur district.
Besides, follow-up report of 3 people in Chuadanga district is positive. The rest of the results are negative 6.
Kushtia is now being considering another hot bed of corona breeding in Khulna division. The corona infection could not be brought under control in any way. Of the areas, the Kushtia Sadar upazila including district town is the worst spot of Covid-19 breeding.
Large scale of announcements, lockdowns, motivation and even intimidation by law enforcement did not work at all. Experts say the increase of infections and deaths in Kushtia is due to disobeying the rules by the all sorts of people.
Meanwhile, at the rate that is rapidly increasing, the doctors are apprehended that they will face tough situation in the coming days. The isolation ward of Kushtia General Hospital has already been filled. Initiatives are being taken to increase the beds. However, as the number of patients continues to rise, there has been a shortage of beds and oxygen in the hospital.
