A murder has taken place in Khoksa Upazila of Kushtia. On Monday midnight, the police recovered the body with a rope around its neck from the Garai River area near the Kalibari dam.
The deceased's name is Nasirul (28). He is the son of Abdul Khalek of the Janipur old market area of Janipur Union of Upazila.
Nasirul's mother Nasima Begum identified the body at the police station on Tuesday morning. At that time, family members were present at the police station.
Locals said that they saw Nasirul, the van driver, going towards the area adjacent to Kalibari Dam with a burqa-worn woman in his van at around 11 pm.
After some time, it was seen that the woman was leaving. Nasirul was not with him.
Many people got worried when they saw a few others going towards the Kalibari dam. They later found Nasirul's body there. However, no trace of that woman was found at night.
Police reached the spot and recovered the body. Police believe that Nasirul may have been killed by twisting a rope around his neck. However, there was no answer as to whether the woman had committed the murder alone.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Khoksa police station, Mustafa Habibullah, said that it is not possible to say why he was killed right now. The body was identified in the morning. He also said that the investigation is going on.
