Mujibnagar-Kolkata Swadhinata Sarak expects to open in March

Work of Mujibnagar-Kolkata Swadhinata Sarak in historic Mujibnagar of Meherpur district will be completed within this month and it will be opened in first week of March, said Local Government Minister Md. Tajul Islam.

He told it while addressing the first meeting of the sub-committee formed to celebrate the ‘Golden Jubilee of Independence’ at the conference room of the Local Government Department at the Secretariat on Thursday (February 25).

The minister said the government decided to build the Road to enrich the history and heritage of the liberation war.

The local government engineering department started work soon after receiving the instructions and it is now in its final stages, the minister said.

For speedy implementation, the State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain and LGED’s Chief Engineer inspected the site on February 14.

At the meeting, the convener of the sub-committee directed all the ministries / divisions / departments to send their own and national level activities to the committee by February 28 to celebrate the golden jubilee of independence in a colorful and appropriate manner.

The local government minister also convened an additional secretary of the local government department and formed a working committee.

The meeting was attended by senior secretaries of local government departments, secretaries of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs and officials of various ministries of the sub-committee.
