Another eight lakh people has been proposed to bring under the old age allowance in the proposed budget for 2021-22.  At present, this allowance is being given to 49 lakh elderly people in 112 upazilas of the country.

In the proposed budget, it has been proposed to bring eight lakh poor and extremely poor people of 150 more upazilas under this allowance.

Besides, in the proposed budget, it has been proposed to allocate another Tk 481 crore for this sector.

In the current fiscal year 2020-21, the allocation for this sector was Tk 2,940 crore.
