Mobile court fines on a wedding ceremony

A father of bridegroom and groom himself have been fined Tk 20,000 in a mobile court for arranging the wedding in a gathering of many people.

The incident took place at Kamalapur in Khoksa upazila of Kushtia on Friday.

According to mobile court sources, Afzal Hossain of that village organised a huge gathering on the occasion of his daughter’s marriage. Upon receiving the news, the executive magistrate of the mobile court Sabuj Kumar Basak went to the spot. 

The magistrate asked all the guests on both sides to leave the wedding ceremony. 

The marriage was later consummated in the presence of a few people on both sides, maintaining social distance. 

However, according to the Infectious Diseases (Control, Prevention and Eradication) Act 2018, Afzal was fined Tk 10,000 and the groom Mehedi Hasan was fined Tk 10,000 respectively.
