A middle-aged man who received beating by his son here died at Kushtia general hospital.
The incident took place at Char Milpara of Kushtia town on Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Babu Khan, 52, a day labourer.
According to family and local sources, Babu Khan used to quarrel with his son Ramiz Ali from time to time on various issues. Ramiz, 18, works in a rope factory in Barabazar area of the town was accused of being a drug addict.
Babu asked his son Ramiz to provide him Tk1,000 at around 6 am on Friday. Babu got angry when Ramiz wanted to give him Tk 500 instead of one thousand. They started arguing.
At one point, a fight broke out between them.
Rais Ali alias Askari, another son of deceased Babu, said, his elder brother Ramiz started slapping and punching his father when his was telling Ramiz to get out of the home immediately.
Rais continued that his mother Janata Khatun got into a quarrel with his father on behalf of Ramiz and his father became angrier and when he went to get his mother and brother Ramiz out of the house, a scuffle broke out between the three.
At one stage, his father fell to the ground, Rais said.
Babu received injuries in his head and lost consciousness. He was taken to Kushtia General Hospital where hr died at around 9am.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kushtia Model Police station Sabbirul Alam said the incident took place due to a family quarrel.
The matter is being investigated. He said that no case has been registered in this regard yet.
