Director General of Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) Zafar Wazed told that newspapers are among the most affected sectors by Coronavirus. However, sufferings of local newspapers have been worst.
He added that assistance is needed to sustain these. Otherwise, journalism and newspapers in local area will be destroyed.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the certificate distribution ceremony after a three-day ‘Basic Training in Journalism’ workshop organized by PIB at Jashore Circuit House on Monday (November 30) afternoon.
The PIB director general said journalists as well as police and nurses were on duty in the Corona situation. Even if everyone gets paid properly, the condition of journalists is miserable.
Newspapers for which there is no such reader. People stopped reading magazines out of fear of Corona.
PIB trainer Parveen Sultana Rabbi conducted the event.
BFUJ-Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Vice President Monotosh Basu, Press Club Jashore President Zahid Hasan Tukun, Jashore Journalists Union President Sajeed Rahman Bakul and General Secretary Milon Rahman also spoke on the occasion.
The workshop was attended by 35 journalists from various print and electronic media working in Jashore. At the end of the training workshop, the chief guest PIB Director General Zafar Wazed handed over the certificate to the participants.
