The local administration concerned could impose lockdown considering coronavirus (Covid-19) infection at their jurisdiction.

On Monday, Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said the local administration would be able to impose a lockdown considering the epidemic coronavirus infection.

After the cabinet decision, different district administration has called meeting to analyse the ongoing situation.

Meanwhile, as the situation of coronavirus infection in the country was not under control, the Cabinet Division issued a notification on Sunday extending the lockdown till midnight on June 8.

Incidentally, the lockdown was announced from April 5 this year due to the increase in corona infection. Although there was a slow lockdown till April 13, the government declared a ‘severe lockdown’ from April 14 as the infection increased further.

Later, public transport was allowed in the city corporation area. However, long-distance bus, launch and train services were closed till Eid. It was allowed to run from May 24.
