Three persons were sentenced to life imprisonment in a murder case in Kushtia. At the same time, each of the criminals has been sentenced to rigorous imprisonment of one year without paying a fine of 50 thousand takas.
The judge, who is Tajul Islam of Kushtia Additional District and Sessions Judge Court gave the verdict on Thursday (January 26) afternoon.
The court said that the verdict was for the murder of Colonel Mostafizur Rahman. Deceased Mustafizur Rahman is the son of Col. Matiar Rahman of the East-Majampur area.
The convicts are Parvez Hossain Sourav, who is the son of Yusuf Hossain Muktar of East-Majampur Jhowtla area of Kushtia city, Khandaker Mihiruzzaman, who is the son of Khandaker Hamiduzzaman Molin of East-Majmrur and Sazzadul Bari Sabuj, who is the son of Tofazzel Hossain of Garadi Baniapara area of Kumarkhali upazila.
The three convicts were present in the court when the verdict was declared.
According to court sources, the accused killed Colonel Mustafizur Rahman in the field on the north side of Mandal filling station on the Kushtia-Rajbari road on the night of January 26, 2012, based on past enmity and love affairs.
In this incident, Asadur Rahman Babu, the elder brother of the deceased, filed a murder case against the accused at the Kushtia Model Police Station.
The three convicted accused gave confessional statements under section 164 before going to the court.
After the investigation of the case, the investigating officer Monirul Islam filed an investigation report against the accused in court on June 29, 2012.
