An Officer-In-Charge (OC) has been died in Coronavirus in Kushtia on Wednesday night.
The deceased SM Arifur Rahman had been working as OC in Kushtia’s Daulatpur Police Station. He died at Rajarbagh Police Central Hospital in the capital around 10:30 pm, confirmed Kushtia Superintendent of Police SM Tanvir Arafath.
Tapos Kumar Sarker, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Kushtia General Hospital said OC Arifur was indemnified as Corona patient on August 14. He continues to take treatment locally.
On 18 August he was admitted to Kushtia General Hospital. He was taken to Rajarbagh Central Hospital on the same day after his condition deteriorated. He died there at one stage of 8 days treatment.
Kushtia SP SM Tanvir Arafat has expressed deep grief over his untimely death.
OC’s first Janaja was held at Kushtia police lines Today (27 August) morning and the body has been sent to his village home at Samant Sena village in Rupsha upazila of Khulna.
He left behind his father, mother, wife, one-year child and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
He joined work as a sub-inspector of Bangladesh Police on February 23, 2006. Later on August 22, 2019 he was transferred to Khulna range of the police.
On August 31, 2019, he was appointed as officer-in-charge of Daulatpur Police Station in Kushtia.
The first namaz-e-janaza of Arifur was held at Kushtia Police Lines this morning and the body has been sent to his village home at Samant Sena village in Rupsha upazila of Khulna.
Seventy-two police personnel so far have died of coronavirus in the country, the release said.
