Kushtia General hospital declared Corona dedicated

Kushtia 250-bed General Hospital has been declared Corona Dedicated.

The health Directorate in Dhaka has confirmed the matter to the Kushtia general hospital authority today (Friday).

From now on only corona patients will be given medical services here.

Hospital caretaker Abdul Momen also confirmed the matter to The Kushtia Times.

He said district health officials held a meeting on Saturday. The meeting was attended by civil surgeons, principals and senior teachers of Kushtia Medical College, senior doctors of General Hospital and leaders of Kushtia Nagrorik Committee.

From that meeting, talks were held with Mahbubul Ul Alam Hanif, Chairman of the present Management Committee of the General Hospital also Member of Parliament for Kushtia-3 constituency.

Analyzing the overall situation, everyone opined in favor of declaring the General Hospital as Corona Dedicated.

The next day a letter to this effect was sent to the Department of Health.

General Hospital Residential Medical Officer (RMO) Tapash Kumar Sarkar said 180 patients have been admitted to the hospital till this morning. Of them 142 are corona positive.

The remaining 38 were admitted with corona symptoms.

Two hundred beds have been set up in all the wards on the second floor of the hospital. The following few wards are being prepared. It is not possible to give any treatment other than corona at the moment.

In Kushtia 42.07 percent identified in 24 hours, death 7 /

In Kushtia in last 24 hours 7 people died in Corona. There were 4 deaths in the previous 24 hours. A sample test of 264 people identified 111 corona patients. The detection rate is 42.07 percent. In the previous 24 hours, the number of 452 people identified in the test was 139 and the rate was 30.75 percent.

The district civil surgeon Anwarul Islam gave this information on Friday.

The Civil Surgeon said all those who died within 24 hours were undergoing treatment under the Kushtia District Health Department.

Kushtia General Hospital Residential Medical Officer Tapash Kumar Sarkar said, “As of 9 am on Friday, 154 people are admitted in the 50-bed corona unit of Kushtia General Hospital. The previous day it was 147 people.

He added that there are 1386 people in home isolation in the district till 9 am on Friday. The day before, there were 1330 people. There were 1250 people on Wednesday and 1157 people on Tuesday.

The civil surgeon said it was risky to keep such a large number of patients out. If there were beds in the hospital, they could be treated at the hospital.

So far, 6,912 people have been infected in Kushtia and 180 have died.

An all out lockdown has been going on in the entire district since Monday morning as the corona infection went out of control. Access to all upazilas and surrounding districts from Kushtia city has been closed.
