—-“The military-backed caretaker government arrested Bangladesh Awami League president also the daughter of democracy Sheikh Hasina on this day of 2007.
On the morning of July 16, the government picked up Bangabandhu’s daughter and the present Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from Dhanmondi’s Sudhasadan. After the arrest, she was dubbed with several false cases and ordered to be sent to jail. And after the dubbing ended, Sheikh Hasina was taken to the sub-jail set up next to the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban directly from there.
But why this arrest? Let’s go back a little.
From 2001 to 2006, the BNP-Jamaat alliance government turned the golden Bengal of Bangabandhu into a hell through terrorism, corruption, torture and looting. They wanted to kill Sheikh Hasina with grenades, bullets and bombs. Begum Zia and Tareq Zia dreamed of staying in power for life by wiping out the top leadership of the Awami League, including the Leader of the People (Jananetree) Sheikh Hasina, through a horrific grenade attack on August 21, 2004. The people were agitated against the BNP-Jamaat government for its rampant corruption, terrorism and misrule.
Fearing public outrage, the BNP plotted a blueprint to hold on to power; takes attempt to hold farce election. But the election of conspiracy was thwarted in the face of intense mass movement led by Sheikh Hasina.
Taking this opportunity, a caretaker government under the banner of so-called civilians took power with the assist of some military top brasses. A scandalous background is created called One-Eleven. In the name of minus two formula, they became desperate to implement the agenda of deporting Sheikh Hasina from politics. Bangabandhu’s daughter was arrested as part of that blueprint.
In the face of the Awami League’s movement based on the constitution across the country couple with the national and international pressure, the government was finally forced to release Sheikh Hasina on bail. She was released on June 11, 2008 after nearly 11 months of imprisonment.
Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of Bangabandhu, formed the government with an absolute majority in the 2008 parliamentary elections. The path of the new Bangladesh began.
Today, Bangladesh is being considered as a role model of development in the courtyard of the world. Extremely poor countries are today recognized as developing countries.
In independent Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina and democracy are one and the same entity. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is taking the country forward by embracing her death. Sheikh Hasina is the address of all achievement and victory. She has risen from a state hero to a world leader in the international arena with her talent in leadership, honesty in leadership, competence and ethic in all activities.
Sheikh Hasina is the inscription of hope and aspiration of the Bengali nation.
Be the centenarian daughter of Bangabandhu-this is the prayer and expectation.
