The Islamic University Vice chancellor Professor Dr. Sheikh Abdus Salam expressing strong determination said he is intended to build this university as the best institution in the country.

He told that today is the day to take this promise to make the image of this motherly institution brighter.

“To make sure this, from today, we will fulfil our responsibilities by correcting ourselves,” Vice Chancellor said.

He said this while addressing a rally on the occasion of 43rd Islamic University Day held at university Bangla Mancha.

.The 43rd Islamic University Day was celebrated on Monday with colorful day-long arrangements including hoisting of national flags and university flags, colorful rallies, seminars, cake cutting and cultural programmes.

The Vice-Chancellor said that besides celebrating the birth centenary of the father of the nation and the golden jubilee of independence, we are also celebrating Islamic University Day. It is a matter of great pride as a member of the Bengali ethnic group. The Vice Chancellor paid homage to all the martyrs including Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

He said the Islamic University did not stop even during the Corona period. In addition to virtual classes, physical examinations have also been held. In this year and a half, the final examinations of 12 Masters and 13 Honors batches have been completed.

He said that the sculptures installed in the Islamic University are essential for introducing the new generation of students to the history and consciousness. Extensive infrastructural construction and expansion work is in progress here.

“We are not limited to just reading. A physically challenged cricket tournament has recently been held at this university. We do not want to be satisfied with so much achievement. We want to see the university to be one of the best universities in the country,” he said.

Addressing the students, he said, “Go beyond us”-that will be a source of pride for us as guardians.
On the occasion of the day, the national flag and the university flag were hoisted on the premises of the administration building of the university. Vice-Chancellor hoisted the national flag, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University professor Dr. Mahbubur Rahman hoisted the university flag. Treasurer Professor Dr. Alamgir Hossain Bhuiyan and Acting Registrar A. T. M. Emdadul Alam was with him. All provosts hoisted the national flag and the hall flag at the same time.

After the inauguration of the programme, a colourful rally was also held.  Teachers, officials, staff and students of all levels of the university participated in the rally in compliance with hygiene rules to prevent the transmission of corona virus.

As special guest speech, Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahbubur Rahman said, let us learn to think the university as our own. Let us think as a member of the university family.

“Let’s go together we build a highly qualitative university,” he said.

He called upon to all to move forward with the ideals and spirit of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Another special guest, Treasurer Professor Dr. Alamgir Hossain Bhuiyan said, this university has a glorious past. Many students are holding important positions in the country. He called upon all to discharge their duties in an orderly and in honest manner.
