The Islamic University (IU) Bangabandhu Parishad has observed National Mourning Day with due respect.
The mourning day programmes held at the university campus included a Mourning rally, wreath-laying at the sculpture of Father of the Nation and a brief discussion. President Prof. Mahbubur Rahman and General Secretary Prof. Dr. Mahbubul Arfin led the event started in the morning in presence of several hundred teachers and officials of the university.
At that time, more than a hundred officers of the University Officers' Association and the activists Bangladesh Chhatra League IU unit joined to the Mourning day’s rally of Bangabandhu Parishad.
After laying a wreath at the sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a brief discussion meeting was organized there.
The meeting was chaired by the President of IU Bangabandhu Parishad Prof. Dr. Mahbubur Rahman. General Secretary Prof. Mahbubul Arfin conducted the event. Former general secretary of IU Teachers Association, Professor Dr. Alamgir Hossain Bhaiya, convener of the National Mourning Day observing Committee also Vice-President of the University Bangabandhu Parishad Prof. Anwar Hossain, Vice-President Prof. Jahangir Hossain, Joint-General Secretary Prof. Anwarul Haque Swapan, General Secretary of the Officers' Association and Joint General Secretary of the University Bangabandhu Parishad Mir Morshedur Rahman, Organizing Secretary Dr. Sajjad Hossain, Vice-President also Deputy Registrar Abdur Rashid Bakul, Member-Secretary of the National Mourning Day Observing Committee and Joint General Secretary of the University Bangabandhu Parishad Deputy Registrar Dewan Tipu Sultan, Deputy Registrar Golam Hossain and Joint-Secretary of the Officers' Association and Publicity Secretary of the University Bangabandhu Parishad Rashiduzzaman Khan Tutul and BCL leaders Mizanur Rahman Lalon and Faisal Siddiqui Arafat sopke in the programme.
Speakers told that the fighting spirit of Bangabandhu which was the magic of the ciuntry’s independence will be the inspiration of every Bengali from generation to generation. They demanded the appointment of honest and tested people in every educational institution of the country to build an honest and skilled generation to build the golden Bengal of Bangabandhu’s dream.
