Islamic University to hold exams after Eid

The Islamic University (IU) authority has taken decision to hold its honours, masters and all pending examinations of different departments after Eid-ul-Azha holiday.

The decision was taken at 120th Academic Council meeting of the university held on last Saturday.

However, the residential halls will not be opened during the examination, said Ataur Rahman Registrar (In-charge) of the university.

The decision was taken after different departments recommended to the authority for taking examinations physically, Registrar said.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Sheikh Abdus Salam presided over the meeting was held at Birshreshtha Hamidur Rahman Auditorium.

The registrar told that the departments will be able to take the examination on priority basis. In this case, the departments have to follow according to the continuity of the academic year. However, the department academic committee concerned will decide either the examinations will be taken on online platform or in physically.

The university will open an IT cell. The departments will communicate with the cell in purpose to take online exams.

If the situation is not harmed by any further disaster, examination activities vane be started from the next week of Eid.

The registrar further added that if the Corona situation deteriorated, emphasis could be placed on taking the exams in online.

The academic activities of the university have been closed for a long time due to the ongoing situation in Corona. The university is now closed.

This has created a possibility of huge session jam

On May 26, the University Grants Commission instructed to take the exam physically and online. Several universities have already started taking physical exams.

When contacted, teachers of the university hailed the decision as very urgent. They said students are in limitless suffering and depression. This decision can be a little hopeful for them.

Professor of Islamic History and Culture also the university Proctor Professor Dr. Jahangir Hossain said the decision has been taken on the basis of opinion of senior teachers. Students were also contacting them and demanding exams.

University Treasurer Professor Dr. Alamgir Hossain Bhuiyan said the Academic Council took the decision on the basis of everyone’s opinion. He hopes that this decision will bring good results with the cooperation of all.

University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sheikh Abdus Salam told that the interest of general students will get prevail before the university authorities.

“As there is about to no control on the current situation, no risk can be taken,” Vice Chancellor said.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed hope that the university authorities would get everyone’s cooperation.

Meanwhile, ordinary students hailed the decision to take of the examinations.

They said it can bring a bit of ease on their lives.
