The Islamic University authority has started to conduct examinations using online platform. The Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering on Wednesday took second semester examination of final year.
Sources at the department said the examination was taken following the instructions of the university provided earlier and hundred percent students were present.
Besides, the students have expressed their joy and excitement to be able to participate in the test after long stalemate.
Senior Deputy Registrar of Public Relations at the University Dr. Amanur Rahman has confirmed the matter quoting of the department concerned.
The university has been closed since March 17 last year due to corona. However, academic activities are run in online even during the shutdown. Although many departments have taken online classes, they have been slow to take exams due to lack of adequate policy in this regard.
Last 16 August, the university Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Sheikh Abdus Salam in a meeting held with the deans of different faculties took decision to hold the final examination of Honors-Masters of different departments using online platform.
A technical sub-committee was constituted in this regard to formulate policy in views of opinions of the chairmen of different departments and deans of the faculties.
Then a policy was formulated and examination is being taken as per the policy.
Students are excited to be able to take part in the test.
One Cahayan Ali who took the test from Narsingdi said fears worked at first but there was no problem at the end.
Dr. Abu Hena Mostafa Jamal Happy, a member of the examination committee told that they have taken initiative to take the exam by preparing the students in the way of online. No problem was seen. Students were happy.
He said viva test was also taken after the end of the written.
Vice-Chancellor Sheikh Abdus Salam thanked the department and the teachers for completing the examination smoothly. He hopes that all departments will take the test in this way. He said all assistance would be provided by the authorities.
