Bangladesh Awami League Joint-General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said that all religious parties have same character. In this case, there is no difference between Jamaat-e-Islam and Hefazat-e-Islam. He said those conducting political business in the name of religion and their terrorist activities would be severely curtailed.

He made the remarks at a press briefing on Mujibnagar Day at the historic Mujibnagar in Meherpur around on Saturday (April 17).

He said Hefazat is an opportunistic organisation. They do everything in the name of religion and in the hope of gaining benefits. The character of Hefazat leaders is now known to the nation. The devout Muslims in the country will soon reject them.

Responding to a question from reporters, he said, “We do not remember what Indian Home Minister Amit Shah said about Bangladesh in the election campaign.”

At the current pace, Bangladesh will become a middle-income country by 2031 and a developed country by 2041. The way India’s economy is moving forward does not mean that it will go further than Bangladesh.

Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, Joint-General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League, Abdullah Al Mahmud Swapan, Organizing Secretary, State Minister for Public Administration, also lawmaker of Meherpur-2 constituency Farhad Hossain and lawmaker Shahiduzzaman laid the wreath at the Memorial.

Meherpur Deputy Commissioner Dr. Mansur Alam Khan, Superintendent of Police SM Murad Ali, Kushtia District Awami League President Sadar Uddin Khan, General Secretary, Asgar Ali, Treasurer Ajay Sureka and others were present there.
